Loose Ends
Magubliyet's visions - who are the two groups?
The orrery - what is the significance of the planar alignment?
The party began the session in the spherical chamber with the pedestal in the centre. A cross-shaped depression in the pedestal matched the egg held within Kelnor’s portable hole.
Ristakki spoke of a vision, where he saw men place the egg in the pedestal, creating fire and activating the star chamber. He seemed excited and urged the party to go ahead and place the egg in the pedestal.
The party asked whether the fire might harm the goblins in the forges to the north. Ristaki was not worried about this and claimed Maglubiyet would look after everyone.
Kelnor placed the egg in the pedestal, which started to generate smoke and heat. Shrieks of goblins could be heard to the north as the furnaces slammed shut. Kelnor took damage from the heat.
The party escaped from the spherical chamber back to the furnace room. Rio shut the door to the spherical room, assisted by Artus. Whilst shutting the door, Artus is temporarily blinded by the light emanating from the spherical chamber.
In the furnace room, many goblins were stuck in the forges. Gaerfinas wanted to help the surviving goblins escape. He was able to open the door to one of the forges, rescuing a goblin. Others in party tried to help the goblins. Another goblin was rescued, but the door to the forge then clanked shut. Kelnor tried to use crowbar to open it again but was unsuccessful.
The party debated what to tell the Goblin King – they decided to say (truthfully) that it was Ristakki’s idea to place the egg in the pedestal. As the Goblin King arrives, there is a tense standoff before the situation is explained. Rio defuses the situation by explaining how the group acted under Ristakki's guidance.
Ristakki speaks disrespectfully to Shadrat, telling him he is stupid and is not good at interpreting his visions. Ristakki explains there are two groups of men foretold by Magubliyet in his vision. He implies that the party have served their purpose. Ristakki also seems aggrieved that he was left to rot by the Goblin King under the ettin.
Losing patience (and perhaps a political adversary of Ristakki for the Goblin King's ear), Shadrat unleashes a firebolt on Ristakki. The Goblin King, also, seems to be keen on punishing Ristakki immediately (having apparently lost many daughter-wives in the furnace fires). Kelnor assists in restraining Ristaki.
The party agreed to go to the star chamber with the Goblin King and Shadrat. Ristakki came in tow, but was restrained by bodyguards.
In the star chamber, the planets were spinning around quickly. The planets seemed to be moving towards the current-day position and getting closer in alignment. The Goblin King seemed very pleased. Shadrat inspected the etchings around the star chamber.
Ristakki repeated that the party were the wrong people, and more men were to come.
Shadrat spoke to the Goblin King, telling him another dance (and mushroom stew) was needed to see more of the visions and Ristakki needed to be punished.
Ristakki suddenly escaped his restraints. Kelnor fired his crossbow, killing the goblin. He attempted to use his invisible mage hand to loot Ristakki’s pockets, liberating a pouch that falls on the floor. Shadrat picks up the pouch.
While Kelnor was obviously champing at the bit to slay the Goblin King and steal his armor, on balance, the group decide to leave and report-back to Lord Morn. (Artus wanted to stay in Goblin Town to see the visions.)
The Goblin King was not keen on the party leaving, but eventually conceded. Shadrat and the Goblin King asked what they should do about the other group of men. Shadrat said he would make sendings to Rio when they learnt more of Magubliyet's intentions.
Before leaving, the party went back to Goblin Town to watch Ristaki’s dead corpse being fed to the spiders as punishment for his acts.
